THE GOVERNORS, CHIEF ADMINISTRATORS AND STATE MINISTERS OF GENERAL EDUCATION KICK-START WORKSHOP ON ISSUES RELATED TO EDUCATION IN THE COUNTRY

JUBA (July, 2nd 2024) H.E. Lt. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor and his colleagues the governors, chief administrators and state ministers of General Education were today joined by the national deputy minister of public service, National minister of General Education and Vice president of the Republic and Chair of Service Cluster at Pyramid Continental Hotel to discuss issues related to Transfers, findings of General Education Annual Review (GEAR) and Encroachment of schools land by individuals/government.
The Deputy Minister of Public service urged the governors and chief administrators to adhere to the following;
1. Appeal to governors and chief administrators not to interfere in appointments and dismissal of civil servants in the states.
2. Workshop with state ministers of public service, Education and Finance on Human resource issues.
3. The head count and Human resource audit which will be conducted as part of the human resource management;
4. Information system is a countrywide project funded by the world bank and It is expected to be rolled out later this year and it will help in cleaning the entire public service in the country.
5. The national ministry of public service is committed to provide the necessary technical support to the state through state ministries of labour, public service and Human Resource Development.
Vice President and Chair responsible for Service Cluster, H.E Hussain Abdelbagi Akol in his closing remarks called up on all the governors and chief administrators to implement the “Directives and outcomes of the meeting with immediate effect;
1. Teachers who are not in the classroom or on duty should not be paid salaries.
2. The removal of all ghost schools, Counties, payams and teachers from the pay sheets of the Ministry of General Education.
3. Governor and administrator to ensure that teachers residence be used strictly by teachers and should not be made government residential areas.
4. Minister of public service in the state and administrative areas to review the appointment of teachers.
5. Governors and Chief Administrators are hereby directed to review the status of private school in accordance with the national guidelines of private schools.
6. All equipment provided by the state and national ministry such as motorbikes, Laptops solar system are strictly for the ministry of General Education and whoever found privatizing them should be held accountable by the state Governors and Chief Administrators.
7. All Governors and Chief administrators are hereby directed to monitor, retrieve school feeding and hold accountable whoever found to have sold or mismanaged it.
8. All the Education funds should be strictly used for Education projects only.
9. Teachers Unions are prohibited from turning schools into evening schools for their own benefit.
10. The governors and Chief Administrators to support the Ministry of General Education to assess all the state teachers and administrators.
11. Money of the Ministry of General Education should go to account of the ministry of general education.
