THE GOVERNOR INAUGURATED A CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE SPLM YOUTH LEAGUE IN RUMBEK.
On September 17, 2024, H.E. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor officially opened a three-day conference for the Lakes State SPLM Youth League in Rumbek, centered around the theme: “Developing Strategies for Political Campaigns as a Means for SPLM to Secure Victory in the Upcoming December 2026 Democratic Elections.”
Hon. Dut Manak, representing other political parties, acknowledged that the SPLM, under the guidance of Cde. Rin Tueny Mabor, maintains positive collaborative relationships with various political entities.
In his speech, Governor Rin emphasized that the purpose of the conference is to reflect, reorganize, and restructure the SPLM leadership from the Boma and Payam levels up to the state level. He urged every cadre to advocate for peace and human development within the state.
Additionally, he called on the cadres to persist in fostering peace and unity among the populace. He also pointed out that flooding is a significant environmental challenge globally, urging the community to mentally prepare for adapting to this reality. He suggested that early evacuation and relocation of affected individuals are viable options in the current circumstances.
The Governor appealed to the Lakes State community to prioritize material support for those impacted by the floods. Regarding the postponement of elections, Governor Rin stated that while the national leadership has chosen to prioritize peace and security, resulting in a 24-month delay in elections, this should not be seen as a denial of the people’s right to elect their leaders. He asserted that as SPLM leaders, they require elections to evolve the SPLM into a democratic party.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed his commitment, along with that of the SPLM party, to continue collaborating with other political parties by ensuring political space.
