Students at The University of Bahr El Ghazal Protest over shortage of Food
The Students at the University of Bahr El Ghazal in Wau have moved on streets today protesting due to a lack of food which was provided by Pawak Company.
Pawak Company stopped delivering food on April 24 up to date citing government’s failure to pay its money which it used to buy food for the students in the hostels.
A student leader Maluak Mayom Gak who is third year student at the college of education, said that they are protesting until the government pays the Pawak company or their protest will not stop.
“The students you are seeing, are demanding food. Government should pay the company as soon as possible or our protest will not stop. It is not a violent protest but since students are on the streets it may turn into violence. We don’t blame the company but the government. I think the lectures will not continue since there is no food,” he said.
Paska, another student at the college of public health said they only need food, and the government pays the company which will continue they will stop striking.
“We only need food, and we need the government to pay Pawak Company to continue providing our food, there is not another thing,” she said.
