South Sudan is Planning to Downsize Staff in Embassies and Diplomatic Missions Abroad.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramadan Modamed Goc has revealed to Parliament that diplomats and staff have not received their full salary payments since 2019.
Speaking at a national assembly session yesterday, Minister Goc said the downsizing will occur after the outstanding salary arrears have been settled.
“Our ambassadors and all our staff in the missions, they were only paid 3 months a year, so they have arrears of nine months of 2019 not been paid until today,” the minister told the House, “For the year 2020 they were paid only once a year, so the arrears of 11 months for 2021 thanks to the former minister of finance, was cleared. 2022, there are three months without being paid. Last year 2023 there are 8 months without being paid and this year already five months. So, in total there are 35 months without being paid.”
Out of 192 other countries worldwide (UN member states), South Sudan has 30 Embassies, 1 mission in New York, and a consulate in Dubai.
