President Kiir Inaugurates New State Governors, Calls for Peace and Development

Juba, Friday, May 3rd, 2024 – His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit officiated the swearing-in ceremony of Augustino Jadallah Wani, appointed as the Governor of Central Equatoria State, and Honorable Elia Richard Box, designated as the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State.

In his address, President Kiir issued a resolute directive to the newly appointed officials, emphasizing the paramount importance of advancing peace and development across the nation. Specifically, he urged Governor Wani to tackle issues of violence and crime in Juba, emphasizing their detrimental impact on peace and unity within Central Equatoria State and the entire country.

Governor Wani pledged his unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges confronting Central Equatoria, particularly emphasizing efforts to enhance agricultural productivity to bolster overall development.

Deputy Governor Box echoed President Kiir’s sentiments, assuring a concerted effort towards restoring peace and stability in Western Equatoria State.
