Mourners of the late Gen. Martin Macuei Malual Arop
Akot, October 26th, 2024—His Excellency Lt. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor participated in a solemn gathering of hundreds of thousands of mourners at the Akot airstrip to honor the remains of the late Gen. Martin Macuei Malual Arop, who recently passed away in Juba.
The body of the late Gen. Martin Malual Arop was interred at his ancestral home, alongside his father, in Akot Payam, located in Rumbek East County, Lakes State.

Gen. Martin Macuei Malual Arop was an accomplished military leader whose notable contributions included the training of Southern Sudanese Anyanya 1 movement and the ascension of President Omar Al Bashir to power through a bloodless military coup in 1989. Gen. Martin Macuei Malual also supported the SPLM in different capacities. There is no doubt that Gen. Martin Macuei Malual Arop played a significant military role in the history of both Sudan and South Sudan.
