Governor Jadalla Dines With Secretariat Staffs, Appreciates Importance of Their Services

H.E. Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, the Governor of Central Equatoria State over the weekend in a rare gesture and surprise, joined and dined with supporting staff of the State Secretariat, Juba.
The governor decided to spend his Saturday weekend with the staff under one of the popular trees at the State Secretariat formerly called ‘Ngöngita’ now renamed “Lyöngita.”
‘Ngöngita’ – a name in Bari language literally translated as ‘you suffer’ – has been renamed by Governor Jadalla as ‘Lyöngita’ (be happy). The governor said it’s his wish to see that despite the current economic situation causing hardships, life of the servants should improve, and they become happy. The wish is contrary to the name ‘Ngöngita’ which appears to wish the servants a continuous suffering and staying in misery.
The sharing together of the precious time with the supporting staff is the first of its kind ever in the history of the Secretariat where the State Governor has done, said Abraham Lado, a senior staff and head of drivers at the Secretariat representing the staff.
“Your Excellency, we want to thank you for the blessings of today. We are indeed happy. However, we would want to bring to your attention that we are having challenges of transport. Our two buses that have broken are still down. Our messengers and the drivers don’t have uniforms. We are requesting your intervention,” Lado said.
Today underscores a historical day in the Secretariat, said Margret Michael, another representative of the staff and women. “We have been forgotten, but today you have indeed shown us that we are also important, she added.
The governor who provided to the staff a bull for luncheon said his precious time with the staff was meant to appreciate their work and encourage them despite the difficult economic situation people are going through.
He carefully listened to the staff as they shared challenges they were facing during their daily duties at the Secretariat. “Our today’s sitting should change the situation at the Secretariat,” Governor Jadalla told the gathering as ululations and cheers filled up the air. “We shall continue to stay and work together,” he said and pledged to address some of the challenges, including transport welfare of the staff.
God should forgive us on all the sins we have committed all of you should feel free to see me in my office and inform me if something is not right because you are very important for the progress of work at the Secretariat,” Governor Jadalla underscored.
The governor called for unity among the workers and emphasized the need to embrace all leaders at the State Secretariat, being those who are serving now, left, or coming later.
