New Vice President Bol Mel Vows to Prioritize Timely Payment of Civil Servants’ Salaries

The newly appointed Vice President for the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel Kuol, has pledged to prioritize the timely payment of civil servants and armed forces’ salaries, marking it as his first key commitment in office.
Speaking at his reception event at BMC Garden in Juba, Dr. Bol Mel assured government employees that addressing salary delays would be his immediate focus.
“The first thing I will do is to pay salaries for civil servants,” he stated.
The announcement comes amid ongoing concerns about salary arrears and economic challenges in the country.
His remarks were made in the presence of Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, and the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority, Simon Akuei Deng highlighting a concerted effort to improve financial management within the government.
Dr. Bol Mel’s commitment is expected to bring relief to many civil servants and armed forces who have faced delays in salary payments.
