Emmanuel Maker Makoi, the sole survivor of last month’s tragic plane crash in Unity State that claimed more than 18 lives, has been discharged from Peace Hospital after making significant progress in his recovery.

His family, expressing gratitude for his survival, acknowledged the efforts of medical professionals who treated him both at the crash site and at the hospital.

First of all, we want to thank God Almighty for this miracle. Eng. Maker is leaving the hospital today. He is in great spirit and making a consistent recovery,” the family said in a statement.

The family also extended their appreciation to his employer, the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC), including Vice President Beny Ngor, immediate manager Stans Mabur Mathiang, the GPOC Workers Union, and the emergency response committee for their leadership and support since the crash.

Additionally, they commended the SSPDF Airforce for the swift air evacuation from Rubkona airstrip and thanked President Salva Kiir for his message of support and for initiating an investigation into the crash.

The family will wait for the outcome with hope that justice will be served not only for Eng. Maker but most importantly for the families of his colleagues that perished in the unfortunate crash,” the statement added.
