President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday received a comprehensive report on the progress of the resumption of oil production and flow to the market.
The briefing was made by a government delegation led by Tut Gatluak Manime following their recent visit to Sudan, where they held talks with Sudanese authorities regarding the resumption of oil production and its flow to international markets via Port Sudan.
Gatluak highlighted the commitment from both South Sudanese and Sudanese leaders to ensure an uninterrupted oil flow, with Sudanese officials assuring adequate protection for the relevant facilities.
During their visit to Port Sudan, the delegation met with the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al Burhan and consulted with oil sector experts on the readiness of the facilities.
The delegation comprised the Minister of Petroleum, Puot Kang Chol, and the Undersecretary, Dr. Chol Thon Deng, reflecting the oil resumption significance for both nations’ economy and regional oil cooperation.
